About Shashwatamuda

The story behind the name and the initiative.

Meaning of Shashwatamuda

Shāśvata (शाश्वत) — eternal, timeless, enduring. Muda (मुद) — joy, happiness, delight.

Together: Shashwatamuda — The Truth of Eternal Joy.

Our story

Shashwatamuda began as a small circle of students learning yoga and Veena together, and has grown into a platform for education, practice, research and community engagement. Its founder, Nikhil Srinivas, brings together yoga education, doctoral research in integrative medicine, yoga therapy and Carnatic music, and saw how naturally these strands support one another.

What started as weekend sessions became regular batches, then school camps, community programs on International Yoga Day, and research collaborations. The name came later, when it was clear that all of this pointed to one thing: a steady, uncaused joy that the Bharatiya traditions describe as our own nature.

Our vision

A world where the wisdom of Yoga, Indian classical music and the Bharatiya Shāstras is a living part of everyday well-being.

Our mission

  • Teach Yoga and Carnatic music with authenticity, safety and care.
  • Translate classical knowledge into evidence-informed, contemporary programs.
  • Conduct and share research on Yoga, music and integrative health.
  • Serve schools, communities and young people through outreach.

Our values

Authenticity. Rooted in the classical sources and lineages. Care. Every practice adapted to the person in front of us. Evidence. Honest about what research shows and does not show. Seva. Knowledge that turns outward, to the community.

Our philosophy

Ancient Wisdom. Contemporary Well-being. Eternal Joy.
